Clearlenz

Clearlenz/Refractive Lens Exchange

Clearlenz, also known as Refractive Lens Exchange, is a popular surgical option for individuals aged 50 and older who wish to reduce or eliminate their dependence on glasses, contacts, readers or bifocals. This procedure involves replacing the eye’s natural lens with an artificial lens to correct vision conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia. By replacing the aging lens, Clearlenz eliminates the need for cataract surgery in the future.

The Clearlenz procedure is done on an outpatient basis, with one eye treated at a time, typically at least one week apart. The procedure itself takes less than 5 minutes and patients can expect better vision within 24 hours after surgery.  As with any eye surgery, a healing period is required for visual stabilization, and patients will need to use antibiotic and anti-inflammatory eye drops for a few weeks following surgery. Patients can typically return to work after 24 hours.
