To be considered a good candidate for LASIK, you must be at least 18 years of age and in good overall health, with no pre-existing eye diseases such as keratoconus, abnormal corneas, cataracts, retinal and optic nerve diseases. We will carefully examine your eyes to ensure that any potential issues will not interfere with the LASIK or refractive surgery process. Eye conditions like amblyopia, strabismus, or healing problems may also affect LASIK candidacy. Additionally, current eye infections, injury scars, and pregnancy or nursing may disqualify you from the procedure. The thickness of the cornea is a crucial factor in determining whether LASIK is a viable option for you.
The decision regarding LASIK candidacy is made on a case-by-case basis with your medical history, prescription, and other health factors included.
